ABC announced two more sitcom pickups today: Cristela and Fresh Off the Boat. These join previously announced comedy pickups Black-ish, Galavant, and Selfie.
Cristela was the little show that could during pilot season as it was a mostly unknown commodity but charmed its way onto the ABC pickup list. It stars Cristela Alonzo as a sixth year law student who has to deal with her pressure-filled career and her overbearing Mexican-American family.
Fresh Off the Boat is set in the 1990s Orlando and is about a family that moves from DC's Chinatown to suburban Orlando. Starring Hudson Yang, Randall Park, and Constance Wu, the show is based on Chef Eddie Huang's memoir of the same name.
