NBC was the place to be on Sunday night as their Sunday Night Football kickoff game between the Jets and Cowboys held in New York on the the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 drew record numbers for NBC's opening game and was the best Sunday night opener since 1996. The NFL is TV's biggest cash cow and it is showing no signs of slowing down coming off the lockout. Elsewhere, CBS got strong numbers for a 9/11 special despite being against football while ABC's 20/20 special focusing on 9/11 wasn't nearly as strong. FOX's season (and most likely series) finale of In the Flow with Affion Crockett barely made a dent at 9:30pm.
